You start ElectroFix Tycoon with 5 gems and they stay scarce, so it matters where they go. Numbers are from version 1.0.1 and can change with balance updates.

How to earn gems

The login streak. Seven calendar days, then it restarts. It pays 21 gems per cycle: 2 on day 2, 3 on day 4, 1 on day 5, 5 on day 6 and 10 on day 7. Missing a day resets you to day 1, so the last two days are worth protecting.

Daily challenges. You get three a day from a pool of ten. Each pays cash plus 1 or 2 gems.

ChallengeCashGems
Finish a shop day with no walkouts$2002
Deliver 3 city orders$2002
Serve 3 drive-through cars$2002
Finish 3 express jobs on time$1802
Repair 3 premium devices$1802
Catch a thief yourself$1502
Collect a set amount of cash$1501
Complete a set number of repairs$1201
Serve 4 drinks$1001
Bin 6 pieces of litter yourself$801

The repair and cash targets grow with your player level.

Goals

Goals pay cash and experience, not gems, but they are the fastest source of early money. The first five are fixed:

GoalReward
Complete 3 repairs$50
Buy the Repair Tools upgrade$80
Complete 10 repairs in total$120
Hire your first member of staff$150
Buy your first shop expansion$200

That is $600 for things you would do anyway. After these, goals are generated without end in six kinds: total repairs, player level, staff count, total cash collected, bench upgrade levels and reputation. The targets grow each time round.

What skipping a build costs

The gem price of finishing a build instantly grows with the square root of the time left, which makes long waits far better value than short ones.

Time leftGems to skipSeconds saved per gem
1 minute415
10 minutes1346
1 hour30120
6 hours74292
1 day147588

Skipping a one-minute build is forty times worse value than skipping a one-day build.

The best uses for gems

  1. Builder’s Hammer (8 gems). It finishes your longest-running construction instantly, whatever its length. Skipping a one-day build directly costs 147 gems; the Hammer does it for 8. This is by far the best deal in the game for long builds.
  2. VIP Lounge (15 gems). VIP customers pay double.
  3. Turbo Repair (4 gems) during a busy day’s lunch rush.
  4. Thief Shield (3 gems) on a day you expect a lot of cash on the counter.

Training Centre upgrades also need gems from level 3 (5 per level), so keep a reserve once you start promoting staff.
