ElectroFix Tycoon Training Centre & Canteen Guide

Hiring gets you staff. The Training Centre and the canteen are what make them fast. Numbers are from version 1.0.1 and can change with balance updates.

Why you need a Training Centre

Staff earn experience by doing their job, but without a Training Centre they stop learning at experience level 5. The centre also gates promotions:

Promotion also needs a minimum player level and a fee, which are covered in the staff guide. If a promotion button is unavailable and you have the cash, the centre level is usually the reason.

Building and upgrading the centre

Level 1 costs $600, and each level costs 32% more than the last.
From level 3, an upgrade also costs gems: 5 per level (15 gems at level 3).
The centre cannot outgrow your workshop. Centre level 5 needs your best bench to be level 5.
It has 30 levels. A level 30 centre can train staff all the way to experience level 100.

Build times run on the real clock: 10 minutes for level 1, about 6 hours at level 6 and over a day at level 12.

Classes

A class takes one member of staff up one experience level. Classes also run on the real clock, so they continue while the game is closed.

A level 1 centre runs one class at a time. You get one more seat every five centre levels.

The canteen

The canteen is there from day one with a single seat. Every member of staff takes one lunch break a day.

A meal takes 41 seconds at level 1, one second less per canteen level, down to a minimum of 12 seconds.
A fed member of staff works faster for the rest of the day: +1% per canteen level.
Seats increase by one every three levels.
The first upgrade costs $350, and each level costs 34% more.

A Canteen Cook makes meals 35% quicker and adds a further 3% to the fed bonus. With several staff sharing one seat, a slow canteen means people queue for lunch through the busiest part of the day.

Washrooms and slacking

Once washrooms are open, staff sometimes linger there on their phones. How often depends on rank: a Fresher does it half the time, an Executive 15% of the time. A Housekeeper sends them back to work, which is a second reason to hire one beyond cleaning.

What to do first

Build the Training Centre as soon as you have three staff. $600 is cheap next to the promotions it unlocks.
Promote Technicians to Junior. That takes them from 80% to 100% speed.
Raise the centre to level 3 when you reach player level 6, so Senior rank is available the moment you qualify.
Upgrade the canteen once you have five or more staff, and add a Cook at player level 3.
